I Am Afraid Of Hippos

Why Would I Be Afraid of Hippo...

Why would I be afraid of hippos?  I suppose if I lived in the wild with them, it wouldn't be saying that.  The only time I've ever seen a hippo is at the zoo.  From what I understand they are pretty solitary creatures.  So I apply my motto when dealing with the animal world; if they don't bother me then I won't bother them.

    They kill more people than any other animal in Africa, including lions. They do it by swimming under and overturning boats, in sneak attacks, I read.

    I was a zookeeper for six years and took care of hippos. Loved them, but I would give wild hippos a lot of distance. They are very social animals, very smart and gental. It was a great experence getting to know them.
