Black And Proud Of It

Hi. I'm new to EP, and I go to a predominantly white high school. I mean in half of my classes I'm the only black, and if there are other blacks in my other classes, its about 1 or 2 of them. I am definitly proud of my race though. Sometimes some of the white girls roll their eyes at me or say some kind of racist comment right in front of my face. It doesn't really upset me, though it is kind of irritating at times. It just makes me even prouder to be black. Whenever I get a better test score than them or something, they always appear so surprised, like they can't believe I did better than them. So, I'm happy to say I'm black and am very proud of it!

Good for you. You stay proud of who are you. You also make sure you stay smart too and become a smart and gifted black woman you are destined to be. Right on.

I commend you on handling yourself as well as you have. I remember when I went to a school that only had about 4 to 6 Black students, and I was one of them. Just know that when they say terrible things about you that they were probably brought up in that atmosphere. Also, since there are so few Black people in your school, you probably live in an Upper Middle Class or Affluent area, again I know what that's like, so the other students more than likely have a sense of entitlement. Don't let it get you down, pray for them and pity them because they are sowing seeds that they will have to reap sooner of later. Remain true to who you are, that doesn't mean that you have to be a push over or a door mat, but also realize that they used to try to set our people up by pushing our buttons and still do. I encourage you to Pray for THE LORD to Bless you with Wisdom and the ability to see beyond the nonsense, to see the root of these bullies. Continue to carry yourself with confidence and grace, people will see the difference between you and them. If you have a HOLY BIBLE, read a Psalm and a Proverb everyday, it will Comfort and Advise you. GOD Bless you!

Good for you! It is never easy being different in any way in High School. I say knock 'em dead lady. Show off how good you really are.

And well you should be. If other people have a problem with that, it's on them

Keep up the good work truealicia!
