Good story but also to be correct this system created witch hunt as well. The problem is of dilemma that we live in, where society mostly believes that abuser is typically male. Not a lot of studies have been made and police is being trained with sob stories of abused and battered women presented on the front of them instead of licensed and trained psychologist or researcher. The problem is if you got spouses in a domestic fight, typically it is male that gets arrested regardless of who inflicted more injuries and who had higher intent.

I was corrections officer who trained with police officers and deputy sheriffs fo domestic awareness training. They would bring a survivor in all cases, the ones I saw was always women. In all cases women would cry and tell the story of how they had been abused and beaten.

I don't know. I was just working there. You should ask that question to Lincoln Police Department why typically they have only women coming in for domestic violence orientation class.

the jest of ur post seems to lean towards resentment of women, example ....>Not a lot of studies have been made and police is being trained with sob stories of abused and battered women presented on the front of them.

My resentment is not towards women, but as of our present in this nation how we stil live on the old beliefs. We either hunt gophers with rocket launcher or we simply try to walk them with a golf club.

In this case this is a rocket launcher because police uses invasive tactics such as mandatory arrests. What good does it do besides ruining relationships? Imagine if you had fight or misunderstanding with your boyfriend and things got out of hand where one of you called the cops. Police arrived and any scratch or anything stated by either man or woman will turn into mandatory arrest. Lets say he said "you pushed him". There is no way to proved that you pushed him, sincer there no marks from pushing. He will go to jail regardless either until charges dropped. You are also not allowed to contact him unless you will go to prosecutor or judge and use considerable amount of time and energy to lift restraining order. Believe it or not those are pretty common mistakes. Fortunately majority of people do not call the cops on their spouses/boyfriends/girlfriends for who truely would want their loved ones to spend time in jail? Unfortunately as well there are also people who are spiteful and want revenge. There are a lot of cases where a boyfriend/girlfriend would lie to police. Guess what? Police does not care. Someone will be going to jail, and prosecutors in most states now have no drop policy. The victim or alleged victim cannot drop the charges because it counts as crime against the states, not against other person.

Dante, glad you found it to be an enjoyable read...

The state of California wasted no time in implementing the new found ( O. J. SIMPSON influence) laws

personal story...right after the O/J trial....

I woke up one morning with a swollen face/neck, called my husband to drive me to the hospital, as I lay on the gurney, I was asked, in a whisper... if I thought my husband had been abusive.... I thought wow that is odd....... why ask that? come to find out it was the new o/J laws being enforced....

due to the o/j trial domestic violence was no longer seen as a personal matter between a couple. any and all, even precieved complaints are took as serious ! here in calif...they saw first hand what happens when abuse is ignored.

Gypsy I enjoyed this story people forget that it wasn't that long ago when D.V. wasn't even considered a crime in and of itself.
