I had a big long rant about the irresponsibility of parents being the root of all child evil, but then I read below the text box "Please respond with authenticity, support, and respect". So instead, I ask you to come to me if you want to know the truth about underage drinking statistics and my personal experience with every troubled girl I've met.

I cannot imagine a feminist who would defend what the girls did. But they would blame it on male owned liquor stores and liquor manufacturers. Historically, there was a strong connection between feminism and prohibition.

In my place and time, underage outdoor drinking on warm spring and summer nights was a rite of passage for boys starting in senior year. Girls were very occasionally involved, but I did not like the idea. Bad male behaviour around other males was easily forgiven. Anything with an odour of propositioning / sexual assault, on the other hand, could be a permanent black mark on a young man's character. I cannot recall all girl get togethers of this nature. Especially at 14-15.

Honestly, given what I have seen of alcohols effects, I'd go back in my life and remove alcohol from my home as a boy growing up. Just as there were no cigarettes in my home, no alcohol would have meant that I would not have picked up the habit and not even given it a thought. Far better in my opinion that young men--especially now in our incredibly P*SSIFIED culture--be exposed to rigorous and healthy rights of passage, and male role models who set good examples and don't take any non-sense. Girls doing the same stupid things as boys is just adding bad to worse--it helps no one.
