No Man Is An Island?

I spent my childhood in a forest, no one to play with, but it was a Tom Sawyer experience
I went into the Army for many years, moving here and there
I have been out of work since leaving the military - small jobs a month here or there
Dad passed away in 2007, mother with Alzheimers in 2008, brother died in 2009
With all of the moving here and there, without money
and not too many opportunities to make lasting friends
I have come to the conclusion that this is my lot in life
There is a saying that no man is an island ... however for me this is not true
So here is my list of thanks
Good health, a bit of clothing, a roof for now, and a car that runs
The people I met - even for a short amount of time
and the stories of their work, life and adventures
Do not feel sorry for me because
I am like a spectator at the movies - viewing but not participating
and I enjoy hearing of your adventures, struggles and triumphs
