From One Nationality to Another

Officially and all that, I am German.  I lived in Germany for the first 10 years of my life.  But now, I can call myself an American.  And what better American city to live in than Boston.

I have no American ancestry though.  I am almost 100% German. My fathers German ancestry line is hard and strict, and my mothers is half German half everything else (Her father had a pretty mixed up ancestry line, from Irish to Polish ancestors, though he was born and raised in Russia).

But I call myself an American because I live here.  I am an official American citizen.  If you ask my nationality, I will tell you German, because I am a proud German too, but I will call myself an American from time to time.
