Zimmerman Trial What Really Happened?

No trial has divided this country in such a way since the O.J. Simpson trial. One of the biggest reasons is the media’s decision to exert their power and try to influence public opinion. The most noteworthy example is NBC and their edited 911 tape of Zimmerman’s call in. What NBC played on the Today show when the story first broke was this.
Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.

What was actually on the tape is below.

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. Or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.
Dispatcher: OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?
Zimmerman: He looks black.

It is hard to understand such a blatant editing job knowing full well other sources would use the whole thing. When confronted with the editing NBC said they didn’t know how it happened. I know HOW it happened, it was deliberately done, and my question is WHY it happened. The only answer I can think of is a desire to portray Zimmerman as racist. NBC has fired the producer and Zimmerman is suing.

Not to be outdone, ABC had some editing “magic” as well. They showed the surveillance video of Zimmerman at the police station as an “exclusive”: That had blurred the image around the head just enough to obscure the injuries to the back of the head. While playing the video the newscasters even exclaimed that there didn’t seem to be any injuries to Zimmerman. But when it was learned that other people had shot photos at the crime scene that DID show the injuries and that other footage was being released ABC quickly re-released the video that showed the injuries. Their story was that they sent it to a lab and had it enhanced to show more detail. The truth was they got scared and released the original version.

News media can slant a story by simple omission. They don’t have to lie; they just have to withhold the right information. They can withhold for example the fact that the Miami Gardens high school where Trayvon Martin attended school, two weeks before the shooting had changed their policy in order to reduce the crime rate of the school. When crimes were committed after that decision, like when Trayvon Martin was caught with 10 pieces of stolen jewelry and drugs were found in his possession, instead of turning him into the police they would make the matter a school issue and suspend him. So he got suspended instead of being sent to Juvenile hall which in this case would have saved his life. Also not making the news was the reported assault on a Sanford bus driver who was just trying to collect the bus fare from Trayvon when he first arrived in town. When the bus driver asked for the bus fare Trayvon said “not for me” and struck the driver in the face. The bus company told the driver they would fire him if he filed charges. I think that goes to attitude and should have been newsworthy. The fact is that Travon Martin had been suspended from school several times. He was portrayed by the media as some little kid, not the 6 ft tall high school athlete he was. His autopsy showed he had marijuana in his system. No one knows if it was from that night because it can remain in your system and detectable for thirty days so we can give him the benefit of the doubt.

In contrast they portrayed Zimmerman as an overbearing racist bully. What he really was is an out of shape overweight middle age man with a bad back who couldn’t have caught Trayvon Martin in a chase on his best day. The media continued to play the story as a race story even after the FBI said no race issues were found. When they talked about Zimmerman he was refer as white/Hispanic. When they talk about president Obama he is referred to simply as black, not white/black. They only stress white when it suits their purpose. In the rush to portray Zimmerman as racist they left out that his best friend was a black man, he had dated black women, tutored black youth, and voted for the first black president. He stood up for a BLACK homeless man who he thought was being harassed, turned out he was being arrested by an undercover cop but Zimmerman didn’t know that. He got into trouble for it until the judge threw the case out for being bogus. They cop wanted to charge Zimmerman with assault because he had raised his arm up in a defensive move when the undercover cop had push him out of they way. The judge pointed out that in Florida pushing another person WAS assault.

I am in no way expressing a feeling of guilt or innocence in the matter, that is for a jury to decide and they have done that. No one knows what happened that night except George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, but some facts we do know. It was dark and rainy, so much so Zimmerman and investigators had flashlights. The area was not well lit so from any great distance Zimmerman couldn’t tell if Martin was green, pink or purple. We know Zimmerman was the Captain of the neighborhood watch and there had been multiple break-ins in the past. Zimmerman was following Martin to keep an eye on where he went until police could arrive. Trayvon Martin had spotted Zimmerman following him, and mentioned that on the phone with his friend, referring to him as the “crazy *** cracker”. Zimmerman said he was attacked and struck in the face and then pushed to the ground where his head was pounded on the concrete. He had injuries that were consistent with his story. Trayvon Martin had abrasions on his fists, showing he struck some blows, Zimmerman did not. Martin was shot at close range showing that he wasn’t running away and the shooting happened during the altercation. . Zimmerman had grass stains on his back (demonstrating he was on the ground) Martin had grass stains on his knees (showing he was kneeling over). Zimmerman having his head pounded into the concrete was a life threatening assault. Zimmerman had every right of self protection. The stand your ground law was never used it was a simple case of self defense.

Did all the things happen the way Zimmerman said they did? I don’t know the answer to that and neither does anyone else. The prosecution has to prove it didn’t and they failed to do that. That is they way our system works. You are innocent until proven guilty and you shall not be put in jeopardy twice for the same crime. My complaint is not about the trial but the very issue of media coverage. Every media outlet has some kind of slant, Fox slants right, the big three slants left and MSNBC bends completely over to the left. I don’t mind a little slant in the reporting and I take that into consideration and adjust for it, but out right lies and editing of physical evidence is a whole different ballgame and a dangerous situation. I don’t want to be spoon fed some newsman’s opinion or even worse shown videos that have been altered. I just want the facts and I will make up my own mind. If I wanted a fabricated version of the news I would move to China or North Korea. Of course with their justice system they know the outcome of a trial even before it starts.

They made Florida a laughing parade again, first that no one can count and vote, dade county, of course and it was the black race issue, the travon, the black race ussue. Yet a black woman shotted and killed a 16 year old white boy, where was thw media then?

Come on media, let the men take over, and get it right!
