Deployments

hi i am new to this. my soon to be hubby ( though we been together 4 years) has been in the air force almost a year and we are facing our fist deployment he leaves in 20 days for iraq and though i went through basic and tech school i am completely freaking about this he will be gone for 8 months stright and i we have never been that long  so any one with advice i love some

Remember to take it just one day at a time. <br />
8 months is a long time, but if you can keep yourself a little busy at least it will go by a little easier with time.<br />
Everyone's contact seems to vary. I knew some women that would only be called once a week, if that. E-mail would be good to. Wouldn't expect a long reply back though. I was lucky to get more than maybe 3-5 sentences.<br />
And I guess be prepared to take some things with a grain of salt. Like most people when stressed, aggravated, or worried, it becomes easy to take it out on the person closest to you. Try to keep home affairs, home. Don't want him worried about more than he has too.<br />
Try and stay away from counting down deployment days. I learned the hard way about that. They changed it 3 times on us. You don't need that kind of disappointment.
