I Am An Army Girlfriend
Wow what a weekend!!! How about a fly by summary?!?!
Wednesday – Traveling w/ my Soldier’s divorced parents… Drove to pick up Mom, drove to pick up Dad, drove to Airport. 3 hour delay in Washington DC, half on the tarmac. Major construction in Lawton, thank GOD for GPS cause printed directions did us NO good. Was able to text a bit w/ my Soldier.. *beam* Bed at 1:00 a.m.
Thursday – awake at 5:30 a.m. texting w/ Steve. Dressed, showered, light breakfast, then off to the Post to sign him out for Family Day. Orientation, then a demonstration, we were there at 9:30, we saw him at 11:30! Spotted him before he spotted me, SQUEAL, huge hug.. Parents couldn’t pry us apart. Can’t even describe that first kiss. Wow. He looks AMAZING!! (pictures coming soon) Tour of his Bay, met Battle Buddies (many times I was greeted with “are you the girl who wrote ALL those letters?!) Yes.. Yes I am. *proud* Quick trip to the local mall, he got his Soda fix. Back to the hotel.. where we sat around and talked and talked and talked.. okay, well, he and his Dad talked. Me and his mom started at him, cried, told him how great he looked, cried.. etc. Had some “alone” time.. ooooooooooooooooooooh YEAH!!!! *GRIN* Quick dinner, and some more chatting.. Steve got his internet fix, his TV fix, his sports fix… then had to drop him back to base. Long hugs and lots of kisses.. We were texting most of the night, I kept him up till midnight. Naughty me. Lots of love and gooshiness via text and pillow talk.
Friday – Awake at 6:30 a.m. texting w/ Steve. Dressed, showered, went out to breakfast w/ the Proud Parents. Then off to the Post to attend Graduation. It was moved up an hour. Now 1300.. we arrived at 1130. *sigh* Ceremony = Wow.. Dad = lots of hooting and hollering. Mom & Harmony = lots of crying and saying how grown up he is. Just a few minutes after the ceremony to hug and kiss and take pictures. Still melting from his kisses. Follow back to the Bay so he can pick up his things, change into ACU’s. Follow to his AIT training (on the same Post). Lose the bus. (pissyness starts between the three of us) Attack local soldier trying to follow the bus, stick with him until we get there. Briefed and told to come back in 3 hours. Can wait outside, or small reception area, not enough room for all the families. Decide to grab something to drink and hit a few stores w/ the Parents. Leave Post. Go to store, buy a bathing suit, other things, we all relax and get back to joking and chatting. Steve calls. Back to Post NOW! An hour earlier than we were told. Bolt out of store and into car.. Get lost. GPS isn’t helping because it’s an Army Base.. Major pissyness happens, some snapping. 6:30 p.m. Finally get to Post to sign him out. Briefed on the do’s and don’t’s. Go back to hotel, Steve changes into Civvies for the first time in 10 weeks. Out to a delicious Steak dinner (Steve’s request). Picked up a six pack for the boys (Steve had permission) sat by the pool. Chatting, laughing, sharing.. very emotional. Proposal!!!!! The ring his father gave his mother when he proposed 26 years ago. Perfect fit. Obviously I said Yes. Back to room for lovin.
Saturday – Awake at 5:30 w/ Steve… Loving, gooshiness, pillow talk. Dressed, showered, went out to Breakfast w/ the Parents. Went to PX for a little shopping, went to Wildlife Refuge. Pictures galore, AC galore, loves and kisses galore. Back to hotel for dinner of pizza and another six pack. Swimming. “Alone” time.. ooooooooooooooooooooh yeah…. More swimming, watching TV, chatting. Steve just couldn’t stop talking. It was wonderful. We never stopped touching each other and held each other close all night long.. both nights.
Sunday – The hard part. We had to leave at 12. He’s signed out until 1700. Laid in bed until 0930… Showered, Dressed.. Steve in Uniform. A lot of crying.. and hugging all around. Out to a quick Starbucks snack and coffee. We dropped him at a hotel with some battle buddies. More crying and hugging. Drive to aiport. Texting and talking w/ Steve.. he broke down.. We promised each other we’d never have to say goodbye like this again. We’re getting married while he’s on leave, and I’m going with him when he goes to his Post. 3 hour layover in Chicago.. had a nice dinner. Shared stories of weddings and engagements.. calls home all around.. A lot of quiet time. More texting and talking w/ Steve later that night (I love how much phone time they get in AIT!!!) Arrived home by 1:00 a.m… hit the bed.
I’m more in love now than I was when he first left. I’m beyond happy we’re getting married, and he said to me all the things a woman dreams of a man saying to her when he proposes. He’s opened himself completely to me. I was afraid he’d be distant and have a hard time adjusting to being around family again.. but there was an instant light when he saw us.. hugs and kisses and he never let go of me all weekend. I am the luckiest woman alive.. I get to marry the man who makes my toes curl, my stomach flutter, and my smile so big it hurts. His parents are happy for us, and it was a wonderful shared moment when he proposed… I’m back. Far too soon, and without my soldier for now. But he’ll be home in 7 weeks.. and I have SO much planning to do in the meantime. We’ll both be so busy.
Thank you to all the ladies here who helped me get through. And stay strong all you ladies going through BCT. This reward is better than gold. These men are well worth the wait.
I’m looking forward to catching up on all the stories… *HAPPY IN LOVE*
