My Christmas Miracle

Christmas this year was perhaps one of the most boring and unproductive days I have had in a long while. I literally slept all day, then at about 10pm Aaron called from Afghanistan. I was really happy to hear from him because I had been one of his good friends and knew he was over there fighting for our country. We had talked previously (by previously I mean over the last five or so months) about getting together, but naturally I hesitated because he was deployed and I wasn't sure if I was strong enough to handle him being gone for so long. He was talking about what was going on over there and I just randomly blurted out that I missed him and wanted to give things a try because I had been finding myself thinking and worrying about him more and more. He immediately agreed and we have been doing our best to stay in touch.
To give anyone reading a little backround on Aaron and I, I have to begin with two years ago (which was both of our senior years in high school). We were both long distance track and cross country runners and it was our mutual friend John that introduced us at a meet in Aaron's hometown. I was currently dating someone, but I still went over and met Aaron anyway because I figured it was harmless (even though my guy at the time was the jealous type). I just remember how Aaron introduced himself then told me to rub his leg for good luck. I thought he was funny and we exchanged phone numbers to keep in touch cause we had a good time hanging out with John when none of us were running. Last year in April, John and Aaron gave me a phonecall when I was at school and they were trying to get me to come up to where they were to hang out before Aaron left, but sadly I had to stay at school due to finals coming up. Aaron and I kept in touch via facebook messages and the random phone calls when he could and he began talking about how he felt about me in September of 2012. At first, I was kinda shying away because of my fear of long distance and dating someone in the military but I was nice to him and told him that I liked him too just didn't know if I could do it. So after a month of talking about the potential of things, we decided to wait until he got home and that was that (or so we both thought).
I am really glad I got my Christmas miracle because he is an amazing man. Aaron has always been so genuine, positive, and caring and he makes me want to be a better person each and everyday. I only hear from him maybe a few hours a day through text messages, but I know that he is busy over there and that when he gets home him and I will have a chance to finally be together. He comes home in two months and nineteen days and I cannot wait to run into his arms at that airport. I just miss him and worry about him and I falling apart due to my weakness.
