I Had To Say Goodbye.. Twice

Tuesday morning I had to say goodbye. I dropped him off at the recruiting station for him to leave for basic. I cried most of the day. I spoke to him that night a few times, it was hard but it showed me just how much he loves me as we cried together. Wednesday morning I was laying in bed and I get a phone call from him.. knowing he was suppose to be on a plane, I got very anxious. A computer glitch across the entire country effecting the military computer system kept him home one more day. I didn't know what to say or think when he called me and told me to come get him. I was in shock and I almost refused knowing that I would have to say goodbye a second time.

Normally, he would have had to stay in the hotel again but they gave him the okay to spend the night at home. It was the hardest night of my life. It felt so strange knowing that we really weren't suppose to be together. Yesterday morning, we had to be up and out by 4:30am to bring him back to MEPS. I was able to stay for his swear in which I will treasure forever. It was bittersweet, I wanted so badly for the computer glitch to happen again but I knew that would be torture. Has this happened to any one else? I didn't even think that was possible.

But now my love is in reception and his training starts Monday, I know many people are in reception a lot longer than that but his AIT starts May 10.. so starting Monday will make his graduation from basic May 7.

Awh. That's really sweet. I'm so glad for you.
I hope he can come home for the holidays and spend them with you and his family.
I know my friend that's in the marines when he went to AIT he got to come home for Thanksgiving and Christmas plus he had weekends off too. His breaks weren't long but it was better than nothing.

His name is Shawn. He's amazing. I really hope that he can come home for the holidays. I know he has like the 2.5 days of leave each month during AIT so he is hoping to save it up to come home for the holidays.. plus he has weekends off so he is planning on flying me out to see him every few weeks.

Yeah I know what you mean!! what's his name?

Also, for some reason.. it wont let me friend you or message you.. so maybe you can try on your end. Im still new at the website, so it might just be me not being able to get it to work.

Yes he is.. they must be together. What a small world! It feels so good to know that someone is in the exact same situation that I am in. When I gave the week amounts for Alabama and Florida, it was rough estimates so they must be together. Will you be going to his graduation in May?

he left monday for BCT. and yes he is. is your guy??

missmytoughguy.. when did he leave for basic? Is he doing EOD school after?

I am going to his graduation in May, which is good to have something to look forward to.

Maybe you can go to his BCT graduation? My guy is helping to fly me out to see his ceremony, and then we get 8 or 9 hours off-site to reconnect. There is a website that helps you plan it, http://www.bootcampgraduations.com/index.html

My guy just left for Fort Jackson also for BCT then he goes to Alabama for 8 weeks & Florida for 31 weeks. If you need to talk, I'm here for ya. just message me.

He went to Fort Jackson for BCT. From there he is going to Alabama for 10 weeks then Florida for 28 weeks. In total, he will be gone 48 weeks before he has a chance to come home.

This happened to me and my solider. He was supposed to fly out on Monday, January 11 and we said goodbye on Sunday. I get a text saying his recruiter screwed up his paperwork so he wasn't flying out till Tuesday. His C.O. let him get his own hotel room, and I drove to San Jose from San Francisco and we had one more night together. That extra night was very emotional and intense, and I am grateful for it, though it made the pain of saying goodbye to him again very acute and it took a week until I wasn't crying every day. He writes to me about that last night together and how he can't stop thinking about it, and that is how I feel too.
Your soldier starts AIT on May 10 and mine graduates AIT that week and comes home to visit before his first permanent duty assignment! I will be thinking of you.
