STAY Strong!{{update}}}

I can't even begin to describe how I am feeling right now! I am in the words of my good friend Pam, on cloud 9!

I kept my goal of being strong and NOT giving up on my husband...I so did not back down. I continued to send the care packages, silly little E-cards, my everyday e-mails, and was there online to IM with him at any given time when he was online. I stuck around, I had to show him that I am the strong supporting wife that he needs me to be.

Ladies, it was all he needed, remember that war not only does crazy things to a soldier's mind but to his heart as well!

He told me that YES, HE DOES LOVE ME, He said and I quote;

" I LOVE YOU VICKI GARCIA, I HONESTLY DO"

He told me that he saw how I was not giving up on him, that I was STILL there sticking it out, I was being strong and supportive, and that just made him realize just how MUCH HE REALLY DOES LOVE ME!

He explained to me that while deployed it's hard to detach himself from thoughts of what is going on at home. There are so many soldiers out there that have horror stories of their spouses cheating on them, and sending divorce papers to them etc. That he really did not know how he could love me while over there and put his job first.They didn't include that in boot camp as part of their training. SO it was just "easier" to try to cut off his feelings completely and just do his job. Or so he thought.....

He told me that he realized that he was a fool for even saying those things to me. That he knows now that he is lucky to have me as his wife. He said that our job{{military wives}} has got to be just as hard as his....it's my strength, support, dedication, and trust that really does keep him going over there, and without it, he wouldn't be able to be a soldier first, at least not a good one anyway.

Honestly I did not know what to do with myself after he confessed to me. I was soooooo very happy. I knew I had it in me to stay strong and stick by him, but never imagined that it would feel this good to hear him say that. What an overwheleming sense of relief and pride I have right now. I am proud of myself, for being able to give my husband that backbone that he needs while he is protecting all of us, and risking everything to do so.

Granted we are still going to have our problems. We are still going to have to deal with all the stresses, fears and worries that everyone experiences with deployment and military life in general. BUT, I think now more than ever I have learned that you must stay strong and try to understand that they are going through their own hell not being here with us. There is no way that we will fully understand what it is like to be in their boots. But it is US that keep them going girls. Even though some of our soldiers may not say it, or show it, they feel it. They need it.

Stay strong, positve, and be there for them ladies, it's what they need, it's what we need! My strength brought my husband back from the mental absis he was in.

THANK YOU MY FRIENDS, MY EP FAMILY FOR STICKING BY ME THROUGH ALL OF THIS! YOUR STRENGTH AND LOVE IS WHAT HEPLED ME HELP HIM!

STAY STRONG LADIES! IT'S HARD I KNOW, BUT YOU WILL BE SO PROUD OF YOURSELF IN THE END! I PROMISE YOU THAT!

HOOAH!

You go girl! Mrs. Vicki Garcia!!!!
I AM SOOO PROUD OF YOU. You see everything worked out well. Your letter was very inspiring to us all. As I was reading what you said he told you; my heart became so full....All he really needed to know was that you would be there for the "long haul". I believe thats the most important thing for our guys right now. They need to know that when they come home, things will still be intact, especially our hearts. They really need to understand that under any circumstances....were going to stand right beside them!
Keep up the good work!!

Your awesome miss vicky. I started this tour out very motivated but have slowly been demotivated. Your a great motivator. I'm so happy things turned out so well with you and your hubby. Lovez miss vicky.

We are all amazing women!! I'm so happy to hear things are better!
A friend's nephew was in Iraq and he told me that it is the family and loved ones at home that are the true Unsung Heroes. That what we go through is far worse than what they deal with over there. At least there, they are doing a job and the whole environment is different. For us stilla thome, worrying/hoping/praying, life is supposed to go on as normal - but with a huge piece missing.

Our soldiers need us to be strong for them, and for ourselves. And we are doing a great job on this very difficult task! Stay stong ladies!

Hey, Girl!
This story was so heart warming to read. I cannot only feel your sense of relief, but am able to feel relief for my own situation through you. You've shared hope and wisdom that's empowering all of us to understand our men a little better and inspire us to be better spouses, stronger women, better friends.
awwww! congratulations. i know he's very lucky to have someone as strong, supportive, and understanding like you! were always here for you so keep your head up always!

Ohhhhh sweetheart I am SO happy for you! I have been a little worried about you, I know he was in such a rough place before and your ability to stand strong through that is absolutely what brought him back from where he was! You are an absolute inspiration to me, I see now that it can be done, and all you had to do was continue being your amazing self! I know this is no easy feat in the face of them gong c-r-a-z-y on us! But it is comforting to know that sometimes all it takes is our courage to be consistently loving and understanding in the face of their challenges to help them overcome and find their way back to the home in our hearts!
