I Am An Artist
Am I allowed to call myself an artist? I don't know. I am not a painter, I suppose I could be if I tried but I love pencils and charcoal.
I sketch, I sketch from my heart. I never know what will appear on the paper until I begin. Sometimes I sit for an hour, charcoal in hand poised ready to begin. When it flows it just happens. I never make mistakes, I do not erase any part.
I sketch for me, my feelings are all there for me to see. I feel I am pouring out my feelings and eradicating the pain, capturing the joy. My life is within plastic sleeves for me.
I had a break from sketching. I took 2 years off. I was in punishment mode. I was hurting and felt unworthy. I refused to allow myself to touch my pencils.
Recently I have forgiven myself, become one with the pencil again.
I cannot sketch on cue or to order. So am I an artist......... Yes I believe I am, I am my artist.
Off to buy pencils and some delicious beautiful thick soft paper.
