Who cares if you believe in god or not..it is just one important GOD that is suppse to do what?..nothing, but help. As to what your parents say... Oh Well.. You Dont have to remember every word they say or you dont have to listen to every word they say that you dont like...just know what they said and dont let it get to you.... As for GOD..we do not live for knowing GOD every single day.. We Live For Gods Will... To Live, as far as i figure it..any one know more about it?<

Well there may be hope for your fiance someday, since he managed to give up Mormonism, which is an even more nonsensical irrational mindf*** than Christianity. If he's realized that Mormonism is batsh** crazy, maybe one day he'll make the intuitive leap to apply that logic to all religions.

I see a strong, resilient person here. Excellent!

Don't let society bully you into faking irrational beliefs. Of course, it would be prudent to stay away from discussing the subject at all in front of your fiancé's family unless you're asked a direct question.

I don't think all theists are idiots. Some undoubtedly are. But there are many who are otherwise perfectly rational and certainly not what you'd call "unreasonable people". Rational theists just tend to have this terribly strong, compartmentalized belief that they refuse to examine logically.

Here's wishing you all the happiness in matrimony! Cheers!

I applaud your strength in holding firm with your lack of belief while surrounded by people you term "idiots". I'm lucky to come from a family where logic rules. We scrutinise everything, even if it doesn't really matter, for example, there's an advert on in the UK at the moment which states that if you are "75 and over" you can apply for something or other (I forget what, it's not really important). Anyway, each time this advert is on, I delight in pointing out to everyone in the room that according to the advert, no-one can apply for what they're advertising, since no-one can be simultaniously 75 and over 75.

My family never called me dark, just lost but after a while hopefully they will adjust and it will no longer be a hot topic for your family.
