Afraid To Tell My Catholic Family And It Is Making Me Suffer

I use to be blinded into Catholic faith, my whole family (Even aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.) is catholic. I'm always forced into going to church and to catholic school on Sundays. But the inside of me screams to tell them. I have friends that are atheist and have told their parents. But their parents did not accept their choice. One of their brothers even called them "possessed." And I- I am afraid, I always have been. What if my parents put religion before love? I am torn on the inside at the thought of rejection. So I came here because I know there are people that are suffering the way I am.

I'm actually waiting till I'm a bit older to tell them, by that time I would have moved out and have a life of my own. But I don't know if I could be patient about something like this.

Please...I'm torn and so frustrated on the inside.

Read about the big miracle at Fatima, Portugal before you reject Catholicism. Please?

Happy Thursday!

If I may, abandoning Catholicism and embracing Atheism is like getting food poisoning from a meal at a restaurant and swearing of all food forever because of it. Does that make sense to you?

You seem to have an excellent grasp on the situation, even if it's not exactly pleasant. Part of me wants to tell you to come out, part of me wants to tell you to wait for a better time. If religion is indeed a large part of your family's life, its likely coming out will never be ideal, but at your age, you're more at their mercy.
