Ive been atheist all my life! recently its become a nightmare of loneliness. I live in the DEEP South, (south Louisiana) atheists are rare around here. I was robbed and beaten almost to death returning to my hotel after an outdoor concert. Spent 19 months in a hospital. AND, My wife died of cancer while i was healing. I lost everything! Am a combat veteran, And I have been placed in a twelve step halfway house to get back on my feet. Let that sink in for a second!!!! I do not have one friend, no one to even relate to! and I found this place....

    Deep south atheist right here too? Are u serious? I can not believe people would do that to you. Omg. When I 'come out' about my atheism people ask me questions and get all mad but I just answer them calmly. And if they start getting hostile I put them in their god damn place! You should consider carrying a gun on you. After all u have the right to practice whatever religion you want. And people can't just almost kill you over your constitutional rights.

    Deep south Louisiana atheist here. Keep up the good fight. I agree it can get lonely here. And the discrimination is ridiculous.

    I live in the big shiny buckle of the bible belt, so I can relate to how you must feel regarding that. Just keep in mind that all things are temporary, including your current state. It won't be like this always. Take help and compassion from whatever direction it comes, religious or non. It is your own strength that will get you through. Just keep in mind that we humans are complete, we have everything we need within us to survive. Don't need to look outward. Peace.

    Wow sorry about what has happened to you and I feel bad for you.I am not an atheist so I won't offer any kind of religious hope but I do feel bad for you all the same.I hope things turn around for you in some way shape or form.I would suggest moving away from the south if you want to meet people w/like minded thinking,Take care.
