Find some inspiration from the voices of some Original Women…share inspiration by posting your own words of wisdom or comments.

“Be your own source of strength and comfort.  Believe that you are in love, happy, and fulfilled because you started by feeling that way about yourself, alone.  Then the power of being together is amplified and you will experience the kind of joy that you can’t begin to imagine.  It starts within you and no one else.”

~Carol Lin, CNN Reporter

“I would tell them to select a profession or something to do that they really enjoy.  Most importantly, always keep your head up, spirit moving forward, and surround yourself with good people.”

~Caroline Kane, Biochemist UC Berkeley

“Be true to yourself.  It is really important to keep your mind open and understand what makes you happy.  Follow your own heart and don’t ever get stuck in a path someone else has created for you.”

~Linda Jackson, Olympic Cyclist

“One: don't be afraid to make connections.  Two: find a mentor, someone you trust.  Three: remember to trust yourself-don't be afraid and try it.”

~Leeann Simons, Dietician & Teacher

“Don’t be afraid to listen to the little voice inside—pay attention to your gut instinct.  I think this really means following your own personal truths.  The thing that set me free, personally and professionally, was settling into the place where I trusted myself.  All of the sudden things started to open up.”

~Rebecca Katz, Healing Chef

“Take lots of time for yourself, discovering yourself—pursue not only a profession but other life passions, I always make time to rock climb or hike or write a few short stories.  Also, find good people and surround yourself with them.  Most importantly, always believe you will, unequivocally.”

~Sarah Silverman, Social Marketer

“Just be yourself, don’t fit into a box. Follow your heart and believe that you can live the life you want.”

~Leslie Garner, Teacher of the Year

“Discover your inner tomato -- know and understand yourself and your passions and how these elements can work together to craft a fulfilling livelihood that leaves this world a better place.  Are you a Brandywine, slowly ripening to yield some of the sweetest fruit?  Or are you a Green Zebra:  Unique in green striped design, early to ripe and a dash tarter, edgier than most?  Whatever you may be -- relish and celebrate your unique breed.”

~Lisa Kivirist, Green Entrepreneur

“Be true to yourself. Whatever might come your way, make good decisions that reflect the person you are and the person you want to be. Life changes rapidly, be ready to change with it.”

~Gerri Johnson, Media Professional

“Be happy with yourself before you enter into a relationship. You will not find your happiness in others, if it does not already exist inside your heart. Do not worry about the things that you cannot change. Feel blessed and live in the present. Remember the important lesson of impermanence. Nothing lasts forever, including good times and bad. Practice yoga daily and hike amongst tall trees as often as you can!”

~Jennifer Lance, Mother & Teacher

yes. it's great quotes.

interesting. You going to have an original man?

I would love to have it within myself to follow the examples of these women. I know that actions speak louder than words and while I can repeat these wonderful mantras I actually have to DO something to change my negative opinion of myself...that's the hard part. What can I actually DO to stop feeling so bad about myself?

I love quotes and collect them relentlessly so when EP asked for our favorite powerful women quotes I pulled these out. Some of these are in my top 100 list which I refer to as my “life quotes.” I have each of the top 100 fixed as wallpaper for my laptop and I alternate these depending on my mood. This way the quote is there in the background of my computer to remind me of who I want to be as a woman. I have marked the ones that are my “life quotes” with an asterisk.<br />
