That was perfect spelling and grammar johnspellblog, lol. Giggelets I'm afraid you're right! I do indeed get distracted by bad spelling and grammar, and like totoh82 I get the urge to correct it. Run-on sentences, particularly a whole paragraph made up of one long sentence, seems particularly cumbersome to follow. Still, it's only a pet peeve; we've all got 'em!

Not having English as my native tongue, you all have excuse me if I misspelled something or wrote something grammatically incorrect.

I never understood how people can actually get annoyed by spelling errors or grammar.

To me, it doesn't really matter as long as I understand what the person is trying to tell me.

Newspapers, official documents and such are another thing though. They should be proper and look professional. Still, I wouldn't get annoyed. If I even noticed a spelling error I'd probably just think "What a schmuck, didn't use the spell check feature" and continue reading.

I can however be annoyed by the self-proclaimed spelling police when you write something in a blog/forum/chat.

Some 10 years ago when I was very active in chats online, there was always some smartass telling people how to spell. Most of us didn't care about the spelling, we were chatting, and we understood each other just fine.

I don't think of this site as an English class. I just enjoy the discussions and comments, mistakes and all.

I fear that those who fret over spelling and grammar often miss the bigger pictures and deny themselves the pleases the bigger pictures provides.

Suzer, I agree with you, and I'm one of the worse spellers on Earth. I go to a LOT of pain and trouble to get something spelled right when I'm writing to OTHER PEOPLE, and it insults the Hell out of me when others don't think I'm worth the trouble. Screw them

Girlpower- I am having fun, in fact I am having a blast. Who are you to decide if this post is stupid or not? Suzer was sharing her feelings about spelling mistakes if you don't like that the say "Spelling mistakes don't really bother me" but don't stir ****. You may think you are being quirky and fun but in actual fact your being annoying.

Girlpower- What the hell is your problem? Some people like Suzer, myself and the other people who commented get annoyed by idiots who can't spell, why on earth do you have to rile things up? You are nothing but a trouble stirrer. Grow up.

True True. Sometimes you just forget...sometimes...but if there's a grammatical/spelling error in every sentence, that's just...bad

I know what you mean, and I am terribly guilty of misuse. And it`s not because I don`t know how to use our little apostraphetic friends, but my keyboard is possessed!

Seriously, I can`t use certain keys, like the ever-used apostrophe- it does weird things. So I am forced to use that weird one located on the left, under the Tilda. Hmmm. wonder what that one`s called?

      Get your keyboard cleaned, perhaps?
