yeah that's what one of my cousins said too. She went to Mexico for vacation once with her husband, and she said it looks pretty much exactly like the Philippines. My mom's always talked to me in Tagalog and I can understand it pretty well...that helped me greatly in Spanish class back in high school :P
I really want to go to the Philippines. One of these days I definitely will.

In many ways the Philippines looks much like Mexico, but with different faces. They were a spanish colony for 300 years. Some words still sound spanish, however over there English is taught as a second language so ANYONE can go there and get by easily. Most if not all the signs are even in English. Wonderful and safe place, unless you go down south to Mindanao. Then good luck. Not too safe down there, but then there is not much to visit either.

aww Josie, thank you again hon. You're making me blush xx
My heritage? Well both of my parents are from the Philippines. My mom's from Manila and my Dad's from Davao. As far as I know, my mom's side of the family has always lived in Manila, and the same for my dad's side in Davao. That's really all I know about my heritage...yeah, it's pretty pathetic how much I know, or don't know.

Been there, Done that. Got a few T-shirts. Nice quality too. Aught to go. It is nothing like it was back in the 90's
It is all getting built up. My most favorite place on the planet is Taal mt Volcano, and Tagaytay, on the opposite side. Fantastic View. Just amazing. Makes Hawaii look like a dump.
