Flappy

When I'm happy, the feelings are bubbling up inside my bones and veins and I need to let it out. I need to dance, clap, jump on the spot, run, or flap my hands.

I am able to contain such outbursts of emotion in public... most of the time. Because I know people look at you funny when you start clapping your hands or dancing for no reason... I have been known to start running in the street for no apparent reason. The hidden reason is that I'm happy or excited. I have confused many a bus driver who assumed I was running for the bus stop... when I was in fact running for joy.

When I'm home, however, there is no reason not to. So, I can listen to a favourite song, look at a funny meme, or watch an awesome episode of my favourite TV series... and I can clap or flap my hands or dance, to my heart's content.

Welcome to my world. I am autistic and proud.

You are sooooo adorable! I would be interesting to know you better :)

Slightly off topic ... But is it even possible to angrily dance? I have been so happy I could dance but, I've never been "so mad I could just" dance....

It's called Krumping me thinks.

I did thing of a most pit but, then thought that's more like warrior dancing ...

Krumping is scary. It's like, putting all your force into every move. Someone hit me one time trying to show me, and it bruised!

When I'm angry, I tend to mutter angrily to myself, swear, or cry. Not dance. lol

im not autistic to my knowlege but when im happy i rub my hands together real fast and clap when im scared i rock and when people walk near me i scream dont touch me doesnt matter if im at home or in public it just happens if im sleepy i rock and pet my blanket or pillow there is only 3 people i can allow to touch me without warning or i start screaming dont touch me and back to rocking if my daily schedual is messed up just one little bit i space out get jumpy and sick and can barely function talk about people in public stareing try going to a store with me on a bad day and see how many looks we get as i scream dont touch me at random people with carts because they get close to me its not on purpose i actually dont realize i said it until people tell me woah i wasnt going to touch you

It sounds like you could potentially be on the autistic spectrum.

if i am i accept that but how could i go 27 years without a doctor saying hey this is whats wrong she isnt just antisocial and add she has a different problem to

I was 32 when I was diagnosed. Some women were older still. High-functioning women on the autistic spectrum often go undiagnosed.
I'm glad I was finally diagnosed because it explains all the issues I have had thoughout my life, and it means I can stop apologising for being different. I'm not a freak... I'm "just" autistic.

even if you wasnt autistic you wouldnt be a freak you would be unique and still deserve love and respect

does anything soothe you or calm you down like for me its technology and music and things that drive me nuts and set me off screaming is lights like school and car lights and sounds like sirens and high pitch noises and people who sing high part like mariah carey and celion dion

Things that soothe me are: stroking soft things, listening to calm music, going for a walk, reading, taking a hot bath. Things that drive me nuts: sudden loud noises, any kind of noise/talking when I've just got up (I'm not a morning person), being touched unexpectedly.

the unexpected touches set me off in a screaming fit my blanket is fuzzy and soft i like to pet it when im sleepy i really hate noises especially if im the only one that hears them like a screach in my ears or buzzing sounds reading i love but then i forget what i read after i finish the book i dont like walking alone though because i get lost alot and my legs go stiff or jerk and i fall alot
