Again D2L, you make an excellent point. Its counterproductive to engage in these kinds of arguments...I usually try to avoid them, but its I forget myself sometimes. My points still stand and in no way is this a retraction...the arguing though, its unnecessary.

Vin, I realize that this is your story but is there any way I can call a time-out here for everyone darling? :-)

Your story itself is such a postive, optimistic thing...so heartwarming to see! But some of the comments have... well, they have spoken to some extremely strong and obviously deep-seated emotions on both sides of the fence from what I see. I am wondering if everyone might simply agree to disagree on this one and not detract from the spirit of your story by continuing to argue? It is just a thought for everyone to ponder...just my little humble opinion. :D

Again, I love this story that you have written--you always write so wonderfully! :D ((HUGS)) D2L

Well, that's very mature of you...I'd rather do something that starts with 'b' and rhymes with 'lock' though.

I loved The Secret...it basically took all of those little sayings that we've all heard out entire lives and put them in one collated package.

Then perhaps grumpy people should avoid perky people? I would assume the same rules of avoiding negativity would apply should one (for whatever reason) wish to avoid that terrible thing called positivity.

Mmm...I know I could use a vacation from negative people. I mean, the existentialist people are alright. Even the people who are in a pissy mood, swearing, and throwing cigarettes around...sometimes I need the tell it to me face kind of people. Don't spare me the formalities when I need to hear it straight, you know?

It's the life sucking, drama feeding, ego centric, selfish ones that will leach away anything and everything that I deem as a negative influence.

Avoiding those kinds of people can in fact be a huge relief. It's like side stepping quicksand. You're doomed once you engage, it seems.

I'm still learning quite a bit here. The paranoid part of me and the "I want to trust everyone" part of me keep bickering.

In the end, I just want to play some mario kart with some friends, have a donut and a nice cup of coffee...mmmm...

Sometimes being open to the positive does open new doors and opportunities that weren't otherwise obvious if focused on the negative. No blinders, agreed. Not letting the bad absolutely bog you down and get in the way...definitely agree. Just being open to accepting good things, welcoming it. I get what you mean. I definitely agree with you there Vin!

I am not wearing glasses or contacts so I am guessing that I didn't type a mess here? I feel like a bat being so close to the screen, lol!

i did read the posts and the comments and i NEVER indicated that i was talking about you always being positive

what i am saying is this MUST relish the good times not let negativity have UNDUE influence is pushed to the point that its fake

you spend too much time fightting and running from negativity rather than recongnizing negativty as part of you and part of life and deal with it

you also have the mistaken idea that people give negativity anything rather than negativity snaching things from them

you think that its about looking at the bright side of life making the most of it rather than people who get up everyday and have to incounter the loomimg entity known as negativity

And unlike zeligocity's simple brother-in-law Phil, optimism (Celery's kind) might actually WORK!

Awesome post, Vin! I feel the same way, and you put a feeling I have always had into words in a way I have never quite been able to. There's a difference between being optimistic and being "Pollyanna". Pollyanna turns a blind eye to reality, while the optimist SEES the bad and says, "How can I make this better?"

Did you read the post? Or, did you just see the words 'optimism' and 'positive' and decide that you disagreed? The post isn't about always being positive or optimistic or ignoring the fact that bad things do happen...you know what? I give up. Its obviously going to do no good and I have things to do that are more rewarding than arguing with someone who's chronically negative.

why is that so hard to belive- you fake the majority of it the majority of the time like you are doing to an extent here by your own admission you don't talk i would wager more like can't talk about things that bother you

again by your own admission you don't cry around people keep yourself from doing so at all costs

pretty soon you won't be able to cry at all very bad for anyones health

as i have said before you have gotten out of the darker things in your life others are not so lucky as i haave aso said you have had things dropped into your pathway if not your lap that you could work hard on to achive your dreams others are not so lucky (by now you know who i mean) i have also said you are extremely lucky you could have been me

of course you can talk positivity you got out on the other side you have what you need you get to live a life - others don't no matter how hard they try no matter how much they refuse to give up of which i am the LEAST

the positivity you proclaim (like so many others) is a front a cover for all that goes on inside

you just did not think i was paying that much attention
