A Part Of My Life I Have Moved On From

For longer than I care to admit, I believe I suffered from undiagnosed depression. I have never felt as low as I did during those years, it was the most horrifying and difficult part of my life.

In fact, it's the reason I came to the Experience Project in the first place, looking for help or just someone to talk to about my depression. And I believe (in hindsight), that talking about it and admitting that I had a problem was the first step towards going about beating it.

From there, a lot of things happened and changed in my life (too many to list and many that wouldn't mean much to anyone but myself). But it was the first step of talking about my depression and seeking help that was the catalyst. I began to take action against it, to grow and learn and get to the point where I could say I had beaten depression. My life depended on it, and ultimately I did it.

There are many things I could suggest to other's to go about beating depression that worked for me. But I understand the difficulty it is to take someone else's words in and to really listen to what they are saying. My only advice is this; you aren't alone and you can do this. Anything is possible, as long as you want to do something about it. The road is a long one, with many snags along the way, but the light at the end, the person you want to be, is well worth everything you have.

Yes, I can say I am beating (or have) beaten depression. It is part of my life I have learnt from, but ultimately moved on from.

I am happy for you! I know different things work for everybody, but I would still like to hear more about the specific strategies you used, that worked for you:)?
