Finally Came Out.

I did it, I was having a group conversation in the college common room and i voiced my opinion on something and one of my friends said, as a joking insult "are you gay" so i decided this would be the right time, i replied with a grin saying "halfway there" He looked stunned, there was a silence around the table, someone said said "for serious?" and i nodded, and she gave me a high five, one of my aquaintaces laughed and said "really, one more thing to take the **** out of" i shot him down with "you can only take the **** if i give a crap, idiot" Everyone now has more respect for me and i feel like a weight has been lifted and i can be myself for once.

Good for you! Your response reminds me of my standard answer to the "sexuality question". When asked if I'm straight or gay I tell them: "I'm bisexual, I'm only gay on days with an "R" in them." Everyone gets the same look on their face as they recite the days of the week in their heads. Priceless! Also, I agree with you about getting more respect for being honest about yourself. Really, it's the easiest (and healthiest) way to go.
