I Am British
British kind of means different things to me. On the one hand it actually relates to the Welsh, Cornish, ancient Scots (Picts) and perhaps some of the Irish.
I've read that the Celts were either pushed back westwards by the Saxons and Vikings (though the Vikings did get round to the western coastal areas of our islands) or that the Celts ended up marrying/mingling with the invaders. I think it may have been a bit of both.
My bloodline goes back on one side to the Irish. On another side to the Saxons and on another side to the Normans.
I suppose that is a pretty good mix for an Englishman. There are loads of Irish within the English genetic pool and I have found it a shame that the English rulers caused so much problems between our two races which was not necessary as we are really cousins. At the time of the potato famine my GG Grandmother came to England. Other relatives went to USA. Yet some Irish in USA hate the English. Maybe they don't realise that a lot of us in England have Irish roots and are possibly related to one another?
I'm proud of my ancestry, but not proud of the British Empire. I don't want to lose our sovereignty to Europe; I think the EU is a corrupt, money laundering operation that Britain should leave as soon as possible - and the heads of our treacherous politicians should be taken and put on show at the Gate as a warning to any other traitor that thinks ruining our country for political gain or profit is a good plan!
Boudicca Arise!!!!
