Casting Shadows

Candle light flames flicker
Shadows cast the outline of a man
Cloaked by an ethereal love pantomime
The dark shadows dance on the walls
So captivating, shifting with the quivering light
Creeping along the floor, searching for the shape of a woman
Spreading into her soul, he fills her heart with shadows
Imagined warmth, invisible touches, silent whispers
Slowly the shadows invade her thoughts,
Shapes of fingers, lips, hands sway around in her head
Eyes opened wide longingly gaze into the flames
But all that can be seen is the silhouette of a dream
