Slowly But Surely Im Losing My Way

I used to go to church three times a week then it dropped down to two time a week then it dropped down to once a week now I just go when I feel like it. I really dont know how I got to the place where I am now. Feel like a wandering sheep like the story from the bible where the shepard leave all the the other sheep just to get the one that got lost only I feel like I lost my way and just can never find my way back. Just today I started thinking to myself whats the point in going to church or any of that stuff if u act a different way when u are out of church rite. so Im sitting here thinking why do I even bother going I'm just being a hipocrite and a fake like someother ppl in my church but who am I to judge if one of them myself.

yes joerio I am born again

Going to church and other religious observances is good but are you born again, Jesus told nicodemus except a man be born again he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
Being Born again implies one confessing and FORSAKING all sinful indulgence such as sexual immorality, violence, worldliness, hatred etc and accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Personal Saviour. It is Commanded by God because he told us in his word to be holy for he is holy.
When you are born again, the joy , grace to resist sin, Love and peace of God characterise your life, you dont need to struggle , its natural, it comes from within because it is a gift of grace to as many that would come to him.
By the grace of God, I've being Born again for over 10years, i am a living witness of the peace ,grace to resist sin, joy and love that comes from being Born again

I agree with you kris99 ... thank you all for ur comments ... and sunflower its good to know that we r on the same page about one or two things u have written

Sunflower,
You should be a blessing to those who hate you because it is how you want to be treated. Now, I don't think god wants you to be a dormat. No one is saying be abused. However, if you learn of a need that you can meet for someone it's a good thing. God will reward you for your good deeds. I somewhat expect their are two rewards ... honor and satisfaction. Can you imagine God watching you...praising you, bragging about how proud he is of you....blessing those that hate you just because he asked. As a parent I have found myself doing that when I see them do something good. What a rush!

The Bible makes it clear that admittance into heaven was a gift from God. It can't be earned only accepted. How great would the world be if everyone accepted it and granted grace and mercy to those in need?

I fall short all the time but it seems really pretty clear what he is doing. He is telling us to love eachother.

i was wandering 2 . . . like a lost sheep that was nevr found or even searched for. i am trying 2 get on trak, same as u.

i hav prayed and asked God 2 show me his will and he hasn't. in fact, he has not spoken 2 me at all. but if i giv up, it will b my fault that i don't kno wat i'm doing, and i refuse 2b accused of not trying. i stayed up all night last night reading thru matthew all over again, as if i had nevr read it. i could nevr apply it 2 real life be4 and i'm starting to.

sum things are difficult to understand like blessing your enemies and ppl that use u. i've done that, but why does the Bible say we hav 2 do that? it makes no sense to lov ppl that hate u becuz they disrespect u more and treat u like a doormat.

yea I have found another church to go to its just too far from where I live and its in the city the one place I really hate walking through in nyc

thankyou for ur prayers winter1.

Ive been in a funk like that for almost a year now. For me, as soon as my life started getting easy i have a hard time looking to the lord, but as soon as i start to hit rock bottom i look at my life and i find that all i want is time with God. I hear people say that they are the other way around, but in any case i know what your saying. Its a hard place to be, but if it was me, then i would get involved in my church, or find one that needs me- and start going with a reason to go. even if its helping out teach sundy school or greting people at the door.
I'll be saying a prayer for you. See you in heven.

Your not lost. Your becoming aware. I know how difficult that is to face. Suddenly your responsible for yourself. Yikes.
The area of your brain that keeps the faith needs weekly ritual to hold you there. It isn't likely a creator would make you an inquisitive curious human being to just disallow logic and discovery. Your not alone the good people of Earth are coming to a new cultural evolution caused by the new availability of information and opinion. Don't loose site of our creator but by all means eject the toxic dogma that needs you to attend weekly gatherings. The reason you second guess others motives is the same reason I did. They need to hide behind something. But at the same time get a sense of community. In business I will avoid the church goer. Experience has taught me this well. To myself I will tell the truth and what a free and wonderful place I have found. I can question anything everything and have become a rock free of insecurity. I have found a true and wonderfully honest relationship. She is my own definition of perfection. Insecurities are gone. Those that haven't found inner truth and don't believe me amuse me but I just move past them remembering what that place was like. I can recommend some reading. Frank Schaeffer was a fundie Christian right at the core of disillusioning people for money. Karen Armstrong was a nun that left the disillusion to become a great philosopher and historian. Learn and keep an open mind. Be ready though, you might have to come to the frightening realization it's all crap and your parents where wrong. To really learn the power of forgiveness is to first learn about your own ego. Good luck!

When we go to church it is to listen to the word of God and learn from this as we take this knowledge into our daily life. Try reading a piece from the Bible each morning or at the evening before bed. Maybe a closer look will help you with your daily life.

I usually like to imagine Jesus sitting with me as I read, and I talk to him about the passage.

We move away from God, He never moves away from us !

Huggssssssssssss
Lorraine

Then stop being a hypocrite...

Many people do what they do at church because it is what they do. They go, they listen, and they live like they want.

I would rather see people at church that are saying and living the same...even if that makes everyone at church uncomfortable.

Maybe the church you were going to wasn't the right one for you. Its okay if you want to take a break and just pray and read your bible every day. Pray and see what God leads you to do. Whether its finding a new church or going back to the one you were in, he'll let you know in time.

thanx I won't

Dont look at what other people are doing keep your eye on God. Take one step at a time! Dont give up !
