A Warning Against Deception.

We are living in the last days, beloved brothers and sisters in the Lord. The Bible warns us that the deception in the last days will be so great that if possible, even the very elect will become deceived and fall away. We can see that all around us. There are wolves in sheep's clothing prowling everywhere, their favourite hunting ground being the common places of the internet, namely youtube, blogs, facebook, twitter and so on.

Don't be fooled into a false sense of security when using the internet. You can easily find yourself being taken in by a deception. Many sheep are being devoured as I write this. The internet has become a key battle ground in the hearts and minds of people in many respects, mainly because it is so frequented and convenient. It is the single largest media tool that exists today. Don't underestimate it. Your mind can be poisoned just as easily.

There are many Jesus' out there today. The true Jesus has not come to condemn, crush, burden, confuse and torment. Jesus of Nazereth has come to save, redeem, rescue, restore and give more life and more abundantly.

The true Jesus would never make you feel like you're not good enough to be His servant. He is always striving to build you up and comfort you. There are false Jesus' out there today who would have you believe that it is nearly impossible to get to Heaven. This is not true. All you have to do is believe and let the Lord do His work in your life. Believe Him and trust Him. Never take your eyes off Him. And you will live.

The Lord would never undermine the Bible. The scriptures are God-breathed and supernaturally inspired, a vital tool for every believer's walk with and growth in the Lord. Soak it up, write it on your heart. It's words have tremendous power and authority that Satan does not want you to use. This is a warning in the light that there are many doctrines creeping into the churches and suggesting that the Bible is not the Word of God and that it does not carry as much importance and authority as it does.

"All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness" [2 Timothy 3:16]

There are many people out there attacking the Bible and it's validity, suggesting that it has somehow become defunct and that it is less useful today. There are also teachers out there claiming to be hearing straight from the Lord and they'd like you to believe that He is somehow by-passing His own Word and using them as a medium to communicate to people. The Bible calls these sort of people mystics. They will vehemently attack the Bible and go even as far as to say that the Bible has deceived people and kept them from knowing the real truth. The Lord would never by-pass His own scriptures.

Remember Jesus' temptation during His forty day fast? How did He answer Satan each time he came to tempt Him? With scriptures, each time he replied. Satan used half scriptures.

Use the double-edged sword and cut off the serpant's head!

Personally, my relationship with the Lord has grown and He has revealed Himself to me in a number of ways. He has been showing me things and speaking to me. Never once did He ever encourage me not to read the Bible. In fact, He has encouraged me on numerous occasions to read more and contemplate on those things more.

Another thing about this Jesus that I have come to know is that He is always gentle and kind and loving and patient. He is never condemning. You can feel His love and it is unmistakable. It permeates through your whole life and changes you in every way. If you are feeling condemned and discouraged and disillusioned then I can tell you that that is not of the Lord. No matter what your situation, nothing is too difficult for Jesus. You are in very good hands with Him.

The Bible warned that in the last days there will be many false prophets and lying signs and wonders. There appear to be plenty of those around lately.

Deception is seldomly obvious. There is usually 90% truth and the rest of the lies appear to be truth.

Stay grounded in God's Word and you will not become deceived. It takes someone who is grounded in the Word and connected with the Spirit of the Lord to recognize a deception. Soak it up and drink it. Contemplate on those things and consider them. You will see the Lord's power move in your life.

Amen-- and God Bless you!

That was great!

Very good and encouraging post. I have my struggles to be sure but I did face a very difficult and disillusioning time period when I came up again Rob Bell's teaching in my church. People were very angry at me and I could not fathom how they did not see any cause for concern where he wrote in "The Velvet Elvis" that whether or not Jesus was the Son of God was irrelevant. Rob Bell has since come out more clearly in his errant beliefs and my church is acknowledging to some extent his falseness although no one has ever apologized to me for the hurt and attacks directed at me. In any case, Rob Bell is not the only false teacher out there and I particularly like where you wrote, "Deception is seldomly obvious. There is usually 90% truth and the rest of the lies appear to be truth." That is soooo true! It makes it ever more clear that we need to be reading the Bible and putting on the whole armor of God. I'm glad you wrote this.

Good story. I'm going to be quite blunt : the "emergent church" is one of the great deceptions of the day. There probably are a lot of saved people in its pews, but I do not know of a single emergent leader who is not clearly apostate. Rob Bell, Brian MacLaren, you name them. Mark Driscoll, I would say is irresponsible and immature rather than apostate, but he has renounced the emergent church as its leaders more plainly revealed themselves. Yes, I believe in naming names! The apostles Paul and John did it in the holy sc<x>riptures. I wish to God we had leaders in the American church who would call a spade a spade. Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell became very unpopular by continually putting their feet in their mouths, and I think there has been an over-reaction against that. Today the national leaders of the church just want to be "nice" and uncontroversial. They won't stand up against the flood of error, including gender-neutral Bible "translations" like the New Living Translation, which blasphemously change the inspired utterances of Jesus and others in the Bible to purge the purported "sexism." And even worse is The Message (one of Rick Warren's favorites) which seeks to water down the Biblical stance against perversion and which adds an environmentalist reference with no basis in the Greek text.

Don't you think it is rather rash to say that we are living in the end times seeing as Christian groups have been believing that they were living in the end times for the last 1000 years, all falsely so (unless you stretch the meaning of end time to the absurd)? What makes you so sure that you are right where a millennium of bible scholars were wrong?

Yes indeed we are truly on the last days as Daniel also prophesied that knowledge will be increased or multiplied during this age (Dan 12:4) and with the floods of lies continue to flow in churches, media, etc..<br />
its all around us...but Praise be to God by the power of His Spirit in us, we can discern the Truth from lies especially these days where only a few is really searching for the Truth but just drink the wine (apostasy,false teaching) of the recognized churches of these age and not consulting His Word by diligently studying, trusting and living by its message. Certainly knowing him is eternal life (John 17:3.. and this is the life age-during, that they may know Thee, the only true God, and him whom Thou didst send--Jesus Christ; YLT). Let us continue to search the sc<x>riptures (John 5:39) as the day of his coming is echoing all around us and continue to grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (2 Pet. 3:18)..Amen <br />

God Bless<br />

Intelligently, thank you for pointing that out. Yes, although the Lord does not condemn us, He does convict us of sin. Our salvation in Jesus does not mean that we can continue on wilfully in sin as we did before we were saved. <br />
<br />
When we invite Jesus into our lives, we must cooperate with His Spirit in us so that we allow Him to work in us and transform us into new creations. He renews our minds and gives us a new spirit. It's not control but active cooperation with the Lord. Our minds are not passive but active. We begin a gradual process of transformation towards a level of perfection that is not possible any other way.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, most Christians are in the habit of not reading their Bibles. That is why I think there are so many that seem to offer little or no resistance to these deceptions coming into the churches.

AMEN, Great post!!!!!

Oh, the ways I could mention that I agree with this. As you know, this is a subject that is very "near and dear" to my heart because of some of the things I see happening in my own church. Deception has crept in and taken hold of many of the hearts and minds of good and well-meaning Christians there. But as the old saying goes, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."<br />
<br />
It's true that God doesn't condemn us, but He does convict us of sin. This is a key thing that the Bible hones in on in both the Old and New Testaments because sin is the very thing that causes separation from God. If we continually ignore those convictions from the Holy Spirit, eventually, God says he gives us over to our sin.. just as He gives us over to a lie if we do not love the truth!<br />
<br />
As to signs and wonders, this is another subject I'm all too familiar with. The Bible cautions us to "test the spirits". If a person is going to church and is receiving any and every wind and "movement" that blows through it without question -- they ARE being deceived. In the last days, the Bible says there will be more lies than truth.. so if you aren't rejecting the lies, you're opening yourself up to deception. <br />
<br />
This story is an *excellent* call to arm ourselves with the infallible, incorruptable Word of God which is the sword of Spirit and capable of slaying the lies of the enemy with ease and precision. <br />
<br />
May we all become lovers of truth in these last days.

soulsign, it's so close now. The prize is more than we could ever hope for.

amen....may we keep our eyes and hearts on the prize........
