What I Learned About Being A Good Christian

I don't know why I am posting this here. Maybe it will help someone. Or help me. I don't know.

I have a lot to learn about what it means to be a good Christian. I know one thing. I am not perfect. I mean what human being do you know is perfect, right? We all make mistakes. Make choices, good or bad. We live life the best way we can.

There are two things I have learned. I learned to be grateful for the things I do have and be grateful for the things I will have. And I learned to ask for forgiveness and forgive those that have hurt me in the past. That includes forgiving myself. From my experience, can't speak for everyone; I realize these two things have brought me closer to God.

I am still searching my beliefs. I know it is something I need to work on and pray about. All I know is what I feel in my heart as of right now. And that is my relationship with God, knowing that God is love. I believe in God and that is a wonderful feeling to have close to your heart. Especially knowing that He is there.

I appreciate your speaking in your own words, your own experience. As a fellow Believer, I know we have offended many through sounding like robots, and not being authentic, respecting of others who have not yet had a revelation of Christ.

I have long been put off myself, not by Christ, who is pure honest Light of the Universe , but by Christians who have an agenda to add "converts" to their account, and forget the unique human being standing in front of them. Thank you.

Here's what it means to be a Christian (I don't say "good Christian" because there's no such thing as an "evil Christian." In effect, all Christians must be good otherwise they're not Christians):

Jesus taught, “‘You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.’” - Matthew 22:37

“[Y]ou must love Jehovah your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your vital force.” - Deuteronomy 6:5

“[T]his is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments; and yet his commandments are not burdensome.” - 1 John 5:3

"Jesus said to him: “If anyone loves me, he will observe my word, and my Father will love him []. He that does not love me does not observe my words; and the word that YOU are hearing is not mine, but belongs to the Father who sent me." - John 14:23,24

"If YOU love me, YOU will observe my commandments. He that has my commandments and observes them, that one is he who loves me. In turn he that loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him." - John 14:15,21

"If YOU observe my commandments, YOU will remain in my love, just as I have observed the commandments of the Father and remain in his love." - John 15:10

"By this all will know that YOU are my disciples, if YOU have love among yourselves.”" - John 13:35

“If anyone makes the statement: ‘I love God,’ and yet is hating his brother, he is a liar.” (1 John 4:20)

“By this we have come to know love, because that one surrendered his soul for us; and we are under obligation to surrender [our] souls for [our] brothers.” - 1 John 3:16

....Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. John 5:39

You are well on the path. I know I struggle with this in my daily walk.
Try 1Cor 13.
God Bless

Psalm 27:1

"The LORD is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?"

I love that scripture. One of my favorites. Thank you!
