God's Protective Hands... a true storyOne-hundred and twenty sleeping pills should kill a person! But they didn't me. I took them the evening of August 6, 1989, and woke up the following morning.
I had taken them at a rest area, in the back of my van, and needed to use the restroom upon waking. A gentleman there must have sensed something out of sorts, because he started asking questions. Right away he escorted me to his car and took me to a local hospital, where they gave me a bed and a "charcoal" drink. At one point I overheard someone on staff say, "If he dies...". That's all I remember.
Several hours later the pills passed through my system. Shortly thereafter I was sent home. If I had kept quiet, no one but me, God, and strangers (the medical staff and the man who helped me) would ever have known about that experience! I was grown, on my own at age 25. I was lonely, detached from people, and lacking direction for life. My explanation for surviving is God's hands... holding those pills all night until He could send help!
The five and one-half years of depression and oppression I had suffered prior to that day would continue for another eight. That's certainly not what I anticipated when, as a child, people around me would comment about my future "so full of promise"! The Good News, today, is that God has delivered me from my depression! (That's another long story, for another day.)
Here's a quick and easy summary on how to get started as a Christian, if you're interested. It's an A, B, C thing! A) Admit that you're a sinner. You, and all humans, have broken God's rules. B) Believe that God made a way, through Jesus' blood, to forgive and forever overlook your sin. C) Commit to following the teachings of Christ as presented in the Bible. 'C' also includes confession with your mouth that you have decided to follow Jesus!
God's blessings to you!
