Why So Focused On The End

I don't understand why everyone is so focused on knowing when the "end of the world" is. I look forward to the return of Jesus just like everyone else, but it seems to me that we have other things to worry about.

I don't know about anyone else, but I know I am not 100% ready to face my savior. It also seems to me that we as a society are not exactly ready for his return either. The way we treat each other and our selves at times leaves a lot to be desired.

It seems to me that our time would be better spent worrying about the condition our spirits rather than trying to figure out the split second he may or may not come.

It seems to me that the obsession with the end has to do with the way it has been used for centuries by the clergy to scare people into being pious.
Like you I believe that making this life and this world better deserves all our efforts.
Beauty and grace are to be found all around us.

Amen :)

I feel I have way to much living to do still. I do not look at the end at all

You are so right! Jesus said to be prepared as no one knows when He will return. Worrying about when the end will come is futile. Instead, we should be living as if He would come within the hour - always!

“Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would not permit his house to be broken into. You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.” - Lk. 12:39-40

Society (the "world") will always be in disarray as they don't care about God or Jesus. We as Christians are not to be tainted (stained) by the world, but to be lights.

I doubt anyone is 100% ready to meet the Lord, although they should be.
