I Am Christian
The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
He will not always chide,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us."
Psalm 103:8-12

In Phillip Yancey’s book, “What’s So Amazing About Grace?,” he writes about what the grace of God means to him… the divine gift of forgiveness for our sins through the sacrifice of His only son Jesus Christ on cross…
“Grace comes free of charge to people who do not deserve it and I am one of those people. I think back to who I was — resentful, wound tight with anger, a single hardened link in a long chain of ungrace learned from family and church. Now I am trying in my own small way to pipe the tune of grace. I do so because I know, more surely than I know anything, that any pang of healing or forgiveness or goodness I have ever felt comes solely from the grace of God.”
Mr. Yancey is not alone in making such heart-felt confession of how we treat the divine gift of grace to all mankind. It’s been a little over a month since Christmas – the day we exchange gifts with loved ones and celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. How have you treated the gift you received from God? Have you made the effort with a friend, coworker or neighbor to be “slow to anger and abound in loving kindness?” Have you forgiven a trespass or transgression freely to a stranger?
Why not? That’s what God did for you…and it’s what Jesus Christ asked all of us to do when we accepted Him as our Savior. Pray for God’s help and reach out today with grace in your heart and forgiveness on your lips so that other people may start to understand the truly amazing gift of God’s grace.
Grace and Peace to you...........
