Celebrity Worship...

I find the fawning over celebrities and reality show contestants to be disturbing and a sign that we are failing as a nation.  When once respected news outlets like Time and Newsweek devote space to Snooki, the Kardashians, and Vienna then one gets the impression that this society has zero standards.

The message this sends to young people is disturbing: give of yourself to better society and maybe we'll name a street in the worst part of town after you.  Be some spoiled rich brat with no talent that's not even very attractive but acts like an idiot and we'll fawn over you and treat you like you've actually contributed something.

I have a friend that posted an article about Whitney Houton dying and all the crap they were going to honor her with. The second part of the article had a story about 5 Marines that died that same day and for them almost nothing except the respect from every vet that read that article. Whitney Houston was nothing but a dope head.

I'm hoping Simon cowell will pay for his crimes in hell,or just disappear,he has a lot to answer for, that simon!!!!!

I agree with you 100 percent. Most television is now disgusting and i am proud to say that i have never ever watched any reality show nor plan to. Im also making a concious effort not to allow my daughter to get caught up in it. Its so fake and trivial. And its so scary that this is what are children are being taught to focus on .....
