I Need a Hobby

Being a mother is a lot of work, and although it is very rewarding and I love my daughter more than life itself, sometimes I feel like I need to do something for myself. I have a lot of creativity locked up inside me, but am struggling to find ways to let it out. I have depression, and often can't be bothered to do anything, but I know that finding some way to express myself would help me overcome this depression. It would need to be something cheap that I can do from home. I used to love writing, but these days my imagination has all but dried up.

I second the photography suggestion. I play piano, draw and paint a bit and write, but when a recent bout of severe depression hit me, I had little energy for these things. I started getting into photography then. It provides all the satisfaction and creative stimulation but with much less effort. If you already have the digital camera, it is a very cheap hobby.

Grab a camera and do some photography, even cheap cameras work, its not the camera as much as it is what you do with it. Its a great way to express yourself and get out. Also keep writing, even when you struggle you will get past it. These are what I use to keep my creativity going.
