I'M Deaf.

I want to say something about me. I am profoundly since birth, I am proud to be deaf. Being deaf in a hearing world is hard and frustrating but it doesn't mean I should give up just because I am deaf. I know that life is short and I will try to be positive and be strong. Hearing people are wonderful and I grew up with my hearing family and I love them very much with my heart. Without their support...I wouldn't know what I could be. All I say is be proud of yourself and don't use negative thinking to rule your life. Bless you all. Thank you for reading my experience.

I'm deaf too.

I was hearing but started going deaf around 10 years ago and in the last 5 years my hearing has dropped at very quickly.

In the beginning it was scary. Trying to cope with and get used to wearing hearing aids, endless trips to the audiology unit at the local hospital, trying to learn to lip read and then in the last couple years learning BSL before hearing aids become useless.

If I've learned one thing it's that I'm not alone, there are hundreds if not thousands of people like me who are severely/profoundly deaf.

And yes, I'm proud that I'm deaf. Looking back on the experience of going deaf, I've accepted it and I'm happy, no glad that I'll never be hearing again.

Bless you

Becky
