I am 18 and am not a parent (at least not in retrospect) what I am is worried about my mom. My mother is 55, she moved from AZ( where she lived her whole life) with my half brother who was around 11, to marry and be with my dad. She raised me and my brother and my father got very ill so she and I took care of him. When I was 15 he passed away. I say this in the nicest way, she doesn't have a life she has about 2 friends. Both are my best friends mom's. She will even say all she has is me. This fall I will be going to college in tampa and I am worried about my mom.
Talk to your kids, if they are at an age to understand, they might surprise you and be able to help you often enough parents don't want to except help especially from their children, but you never know they could be sad too, I never wanted to grow up. But I know it's inevitable, so just talk to your kids conversate with them like an adult and see how it goes.

You are so brave and wise. And your mom is so lucky to have you in her life. My mom died when I was 15 and my life has been shaped very much by that experience. If you ever need an ear to listen, just push the send button. :)
