Caveat Emptor

Born in the year of a Tiger, in the month of a Lion.

Roar!

Raised in a traditional, conservative family. Old school. Proper. Perhaps it is inevitable with this heritage my moral compass points firmly north and my ethical backbone is ramrod straight.

There is a shell to break through. It is hard to get to know me, difficult to get close. But once there, it is worth the effort. My few close friends are true and steadfast. But caveat emptor, my standards are high and transgressions find no forgiveness. I can be your best friend. But test me not, for I can rapidly become your worst enemy.

Some say I'm set in my ways. Perhaps this is a weakness. But with age comes wisdom and circumstances which allow random acts of kindness. It is a joy to help others. But it is never done with any sense of obligation or expectation of anything in return.

When circumstances cause me to be absent, it is gratifying on return to experience such warm appreciation and expressions of gratitude.

Perhaps in my own small way, I have made an impact on others. I hope so. I think so. I hope I can continue to do so.

You have certainly done so, in my case. There are several instances I distinctly remember when I was on a low point in life and you came, in the form of an encouraging letter, a cheerful note -- even when you were previously unaware of how I was feeling.<br />
<br />
Again, this is a personal observation but I have come to regard you as my lucky star :) When I saw an email from you, or a notification that you have sent me a gesture or a gift I knew I was in for a good day ahead. And it was.<br />
<br />
But to be on topic, I have a few lions and lionesses for friends and yes, I can tell you friendships and relationships with those people are among the long lasting ones.

Sjune, you must come and visit often. You are well liked by many and we miss you dearly;)

Really????<br />
<br />
Good to know.<br />
<br />
heheheeee

Hmmm b, you know me better than anyone here:) how are you..who is the lucky lady :) you are not here much:(

nooooooooooo lady, just work!!!! I pop in here daily, read a few comments then leave again.

Ok..got it.. You must play sometime too;)

Nice to see someone proud of their own integrity and striving to maintain it

Thanks damselfly. Welcome to my domain;)

While I am not the same as you in some aspects and my moral compass sometimes leads me other places than north... however, <br />
"It is a joy to help others. But it is never done with any sense of obligation or expectation of anything in return."<br />

I couldn't agree more... and to me this is true Altruism... despite the attempt of others to use this "helping of others" to get good things for themselves ... best described as some warped version of intentional manipulation of karma.<br />
<br />
I'm impressed!

DenteA - once again..your energy;) I'm missing a heartbeat or two hehe. Thank you;)

“Sometimes you put walls up not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to break them down.” ~ Socrates

Socrates is wise;)

Except for some of his views regarding women .... I forgive him but begrudgingly...

It's our Tiger traits...<br />
I hold many similar qualities.<br />
It's since to see others in the brotherhood.

Yes, I agree. Hopefully you are a better tiger;)

I would be very trusting of someone such as you, and I aspire to have a reputation for having a solid moral and ethical compass. I'm working on it. I was raised in a traditional and conservative home, too, so maybe.

Thank you Mary1283. Hopefully you will succeed;) x
