It's About Time

It's about time to start calling in whatever favors I have left. I've made four such phone calls today. Today has been the day where I've had to sit down and ask myself, "Okay, who said they still owed me one, professionally speaking?"

The job search still sucks, sure, but for the first time in a very long time I have a good feeling. A feeling that says, "call in the right favors and you can go back to doing something you're good at."

So you call a former supervisor, one of the two people from your entire department who got to keep their job in that merger that cost you everything in late 2007/early 2008. You get her on board. You call a former coworker, the guy you were always on call or covering for for three years, and you get him on board. You send a message on Facebook to that CSR you worked with for three years, get her on board. You contact your last boss and see if his best friend / business partner was serious about owing you a favor, get him on board.

So you go from three potential contacts from your last job to a much larger pool of contacts spanning the last decade, and for whatever reason it feels like maybe that's the change you need on your resume to get some damn interviews lined up.

Only time will tell.
