Proposal For The Books

My now fiance and I have known each other for 6 years now. We both met at University Medical Center in Tucson, AZ. I was the barista at the coffee shop for the hospital and he was a patient care technician for a cardiac unit. I would make his coffee whenever he came in for his night shift and we would exchange slight conversations here and there but nothing of substance. It was not until I transferred into the radiology department in the emergency room that I became great friends with him. He had transferred as well and we were great friends from the get go. I have been working in the emergency room now for 2 years and in that time found the love of my life. When he decided to join the Army I was all on board and had even expressed my desire to join the Air Force as an officer. I have my bachelors degree completed and I wanted something bigger then myself at that point. This then encouraged my fiance even more to join. He left January 2012 for boot camp In Oklahoma. When I went to visit him March15th for his graduation I never knew what I had in store for me. After his platoon was released to us for family day, his father ran to find him and then shortly after found me. Josh gathered his closest guys around to meet me and then they broke into song. It was "Blessed the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts and I had sent this song to him in a letter. At the end of then song he got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. Of course I would he was and is the love of my life, so in front of his mom and dad and the entire platoon and their families, we celebrated!! I love this man and miss him everyday he is gone. He is currently in AIT in Texas for his MOS training. There are alot of unknowns and I am at home not only planning our wedding but missing him everyday, wanting even just a moment more of his time to talk, to see him, to laugh and share our daily experiences. I respect all the men and women who not only serve but those who stand by their partners through all the training and trials the military presents to our soldiers and families. God Bless you all!
