Posted Mar 1st, 2008 at 8:23PM No doubt you feel weak and humiliated. You are ashamed of having come to this point and ashamed of the relief you now feel. If you have done your best and tried your hardest to repay your debts there is not much more you can do. I have been discharged for a little over a year now but still face at least another 3 years of not being able to get any kind of credit until I can clear my name from that dreaded list. Mine was - partially - a result of a small business failing because a big business squeezed us out of the marketplace. I sometimes still feel a little bitter since I discovered that the directors of that large company had previously declared bankruptcy for squillions and somehow managed to keep their homes and their holidays and set up a new businesss and did it all again. I lost everything. Mostly I'm okay now. I have a good job and earn a reasonable wage but at 46 it's tough to live from week to week knowing there is no backup in case of any sort of emergency. I am confident that my future is a good one but I still cringe when I hear people - usually those with no personal experience - talk about bankruptcy being the 'easy' way out. How wrong they are! Good luck with restarting. I wish you joy!
Posted May 17th, 2008 at 2:33AM Thanks. So far none of the creditors have challenged the bankruptcy. In another month, it will be officially discharged. But yeah, I am not looking forward to having to restart my credit rating. Right now, my wife and I have decided to separate and I am living with family in the midwest USA. I am looking for employment but so far I haven't found anything. (seriously why do employers look at credit ratings as one of the criteria for employment?)
Posted Mar 14th, 2009 at 12:28PM I am really worried about this,We don't have choice since we both lost our jobs,But I am so mad at myself for even getting in to such a mess.I have managed to keep everything paid on time and stay in good standings for years but now it's amatter of survival, Back to the basics..good luck to everyone
