Feeling Overwhelmed

My husband and I have gone through bankruptcy. We lost our home but kept everything else. Actually the worst part was downsizing. Our children had a difficult time with losing the home that they spent most of their childhood in.

I was happy that our attorney was very sympathetic. When you file you have to take a course on budgeting, that help to put things in perspective. I realized how we had just been going hog wild with money and very irresponsible. We also started going to church as other things were going on in our lives as well.

In addition I decided that we needed to go to counseling to cope. It was helpful and we are still going.

There are some upsides, our budgeting attempts are making progress. Saying no, is tough, but I am impressed how the children are adjusting
so maturely.

One of the downsides is that I have told very few people, it is still painful. Even my best friend wants me to cry and let it all out. I guess
I will at the right time. The embarrassment is overwhelming sometimes. I don't want my friends to see where we are living now. It is a nice place, but not like my old home. We are renting and I can't feel at home here.

Finally let me end on a positive note. I love feeling in control of my life financially and the freedom of not having the responsibility of a home is a relief. I can afford a housekeeper now and that is a wonderful luxury. Look at this time to built your inner strength and self-discipline.
Things will get better.
