Did You Ever Handle Your School Teacher's Belt?

Did you see your teacher's belt lying on top of his/her desk and take the opportunity to lift it up and examine it? Or did you see it lying in an open desk drawer, or open the drawer yourself, and take it out? Were you ever sent to borrow a belt from another teacher and, on the journey back to your classroom, have a good look at the leather object in your hand? If so, what were your impressions?

I remember hoiking our music teacher's belt out the drawer when there were only a couple of us waiting for after-school instrument lessons. We neither of us felt like trying it out, but I well remember a sort of greyness about it, presumably from the chalk and dusters he stored there. Fortunately, like leatherbelt, I wasn't caught! Some years later, my mother asked me to fetch something from her school briefcase, and to my surprise, there was one of JJD's finest in it, again with that slightly grey patina to it. <br />

Oh, and I must have a try at the technique Hamish describes next time I have a session!
