It was when I picked up a copy of Walter Lord's "A Night to Remember" at a used bookstore a couple of decades ago and read the Forward about Morgan Robertson's book "Futility" that I was hooked. I've been a Titanic buff ever since (actually am now an ocean liner buff). If you want a great, edge-of-your-seat book about the sinking, I highly recommend "A Night to Remember". It's only about 150 pages but it captures what it must have been like - it's kind of a blow-by-blow (no pun intended). Excellent read.

awesome! I saw the movie but haven't read the book, and we all KNOW the book is usually better than the movie! :)

The book is great - really a minute-by-minute account. You can probably get a used copy for almost nothing. The "Futility" story really got me and I'm glad Lord put it in the book - it makes the whole thing so much more, I don't know, "fated", "destined"? I don't know if I believe in such stuff - maybe it was just a premonition on Morgan Robertson's part - but whatever it was, it gives me goose bumps.

So do I, and that is freaky! I thought I had seen pretty much all there was to see about the Titanic. And while I had heard about some of the premonitions, I never saw this footage. Thanks for sharing Des.....I enjoyed!

you're very welcome! I have a coffee table book about Titanic that Life Magazine put out for the 100th anniversary, and it mentioned those stories on the very last page. I was intrigued and investigated further on Utoobe, thusly finding the second doc. It was like Christmas for me! lol

I know! I had NO idea about these premonition stories, and they are so very interesting! Very convincing arguments for psychic phenomena...

    Whym

I watched a few good programs on the Titanic in the last few weeks. It's amazing, how much history is edited down when you realize how little of the story we actually know. :)
