The Epitome of Hypocrisy

The so-called War on Drugs is a hideous joke.  The endless cycle of despair, poverty, joblessness, crime, drugs, prison, unemployability, despair makes for good TV news clips and is big business for a lot of people who don't want the boat rocked.  You can't prevent people from taking drugs.  The important question is - Why do they take drugs?  As a veteran of this war I can tell you that they take them to ease pain, and because they have no hope or self worth.  Finally I got sick of the war, and all the casualties.  I stopped taking drugs - and the war was over, at least for me.

the only reason the government has a supposed war on drugs is because they're not getting anything from it. they can't put tax on it and there are also what we call crooked cops who seize the drugs but only turn in a portion and keep some for themselves for either their own personal use or to make more money thats when they put it back on the streets. Of course a cop isn't going to sell weed or dope him/herself so they will find someone to do it for them (agreeing with the comment above mine). I smoke weed frequently and it's not because I'm trying to ease pain or escape from my reality it's because I like the feeling and taste of it. just like someone who smokes cigarettes they may use it to calm their nerves or simply because they like to. In my opinion cigarettes are worse then weed and will probably kill you a lot faster because of all the chemicals. I've never heard of anyone dieing from smoking weed have you. I also agree with brut in saying the most dangerous are the most accessible and the legal drugs. I guess how you view things depends on your own experience and opinions.

"El, sometimes you strike me as a lion, inordinately patient for a cat of your size, but a lion nonetheless. And every once in a while you pause mid-stride and say "Come on, people, do try to keep up." -- Well I'm glad to hear that that I've learned some patience over the years. I recall what Twain had to say, "If you are going to be so rude as to tell people the truth, at least be kind enough to give them a nice laugh when you do so." I live by those words, but I suppose just then I did skip the laugh. -- The wonderful woman I share my life with - no dummy herself - frequently reminds me that although I am a good person I often behave like a monster. I am descended from monsters.

Well...the most accessible drugs, and some of the most dangerous are legal. So...the war on drugs is really a war on logic...

Try reading the post again, this time more slowly, and maybe you will understand it. Of course you're not worthless, nobody is worthless.

excuse me?<br />
I disagree completely with your theory. I have smoked an occasional joint .It does not make me worthless, just someone that had a terrible upbringing and seek for alternative meds for relief of pain...Please do not judge others for their actions . There is a reason why. My parents where not there when I was growing up so therefore as a teenager I experienced what maybe you did not..It do not make me worthless.

Well others need help too. People will take them not only to ease the pain but because they think they will have a good time. It is nice that you stopped but I it is not that easy for others. There are a lot of casualties but giving up won't stop the casualties. You will still see and hear of them no mater what you do.
