But It's Not Important These Days ...

To think I'd get a D in public school because I used today's texting shorthand back then.  If you put the apostrophe in the wrong place back then, it was a mark and a half off.  So I learned the proper punctuation and spelling, and now text-speak is so confusing to me, when I used to use it all along ...  I'm talking before I ever heard of a computer.  Oh well, they got me to conform ...  Kinda knew I never should have ...

Thnks fr th short txt lesson Hekate, I thnk I'm gettng th drft, .

Yeah :) We kind of got way off topic, but it's a good discussion, kinda, so, whatever ...

Exactly ... call display lets me know who called, and I get back to them later ... works for me ...

I don't hardly ever answer my cell phone (First, it don't work out here in the sticks) I'm not much for talking on the phone anyway. The phone is a big annoyance to me! Cell phone or house phone. I hate when it rings. I never answer it unless it's my mother or my best friend. Everyone else can leave a message and I'll get back to them on my time table. :0)

Yeah, and when people want to get in touch with me, they know how ... it's not a necessity for me, but I know some who can't function without them :) ...

hey when i got to fast thats when i usually mess up!

Hey, cell phones are way overrated to me anyway. I hate them.

You have very clear writing to me TendereyesPrincess ... the way you phrase and describe things is very expressive and understandable, and if a word is missing, that's ok, I always get the drift of what you're meaning :) ...

I'd still take notes at lectures in my shorthand, but always re-wrote them in long-hand. I learned how to spell when I needed to back then, and still try to correctly ... I'm still learning how to read a lot of the new shorthand myself, and it's important to watch how people create this new-speak, but I'll probably always write the way I talk :) ... <br />
People make texting look easy ... I have never actually used a cellphone right ... I know there's a button to answer a call, but I've twice pushed the wrong button. My brother doesn't let me answer his cell anymore ;) ...

Hahaha. I'm still a stickler for trying to spell correctly. I can't help it. You said "kids teach themselves" Yes, they teach themselves to adapt to the technology they've been exposed to. How can they text so fast without losing a vowel, apostrophe or consonant somewhere? Now we're adapting, re-learning to read all that crap! I personally refuse to use it! But then again, that's just me. I'll learn to read but I won't write it! LOL

Yeah, they had us dancing on strings in a lot of ways, the bastards ;) ... Even today, their pretty anal about following the old conventions ... for what! ... it's still all forgotten before they leave the classroom ;) ... kids teach themselves, and they always will :) ...

It's funny how needlessly pedantic the education system is these days. Most of the stuff we learnt at school we forget on the walk home, it's ridicules.
