Already Deaf

I have a condition which is now known as "noise-induced hearing loss".

It means I was a little fuckwit when I was a kid, and is almost identical to industrial deafness, except it's usually caused by excessively loud music in earphones. It makes a lot of situations very difficult for me. I've learnt to lip-read quite well over the past couple of years. In restaurants, at work, or in places where there is a moderate amount of background noise, I can't hear what the person next to me is saying.

I get easily irritated, especially in restaurants when the acoustics are poor and it's quite isolating when you can't hear a word anybody's saying at the table next to you.

I don't have many regrets in my life, but I definitely regret not listening to my Dad when I was a teenager and wish I turned down "that bloody music".

After that rant, I would like to add that I'm grateful that I don't have a more serious condition and thankful that I still have some of my hearing abilities. I don't know what I'd do without music.

i am starting to lose my hearing my doctor said its because of two reasons my headphones and a infection i had as a baby. how do you cope with going deaf?

Im going deaf too from my earphones, and they are not even that loud. I hate it too cause its abit tricky to hear what others are saying even if they are next to me.
