I love the words of Tim McGraw's song " someday I hope you get the chance to live like you were dying". I do not think you have to have a terminal disease to start living each day like we are dying, which is the message in this song. I think each of us have had our regrets about wasting a minute, hour, day, week, month, year, decade, etc. And, as bad as it has made us feel for wasting our life's valuable time, I also believe that it is never too late to start making up for lost time.
So, no matter what you feel about your past, stop sweating the small stuff and start truly living! I loved watching "The Bucket List" because I was at that point in my life -- ready to make up my own Bucket List and start living my life. Guess what? That did not happen! Instead life happened again -- more challenges to overcome, more mountains to climb, more hurdles to jump, more bumps in the road of life that seemed to be getting bumpier around each bend.
However, I am not giving up and I can still laugh and get back on that bull one more time. One day that adage "The Truth Shall Set You Free" will do just that. If you have ever been in a situation with a pathological liar, then you know just one of the challenges I have faced.
So, without further delay I'd like to tell you and the world -- I am going to start living as if I were dying! One day I will be, then I may be too sick to get on that bull, so I am going to do the things today that I may not be able to when I get too feeble, too ill or just too darn old to enjoy them!
I do hope you will join me on this wonderful journey. Just remember that yesterday is history and there is nothing we can do about the mistakes we've made and the wrongs that have been done to you. Tomorrow truly is a mystery. We do not know what is in store for us; however, we can control how we react to that mystery by living today as if we were dying. Hopefully, Mr. McGraw won't object to me recommending his wonderful song as an inspirational piece to follow.
What's on your Bucket List?
