I Am Grateful For My Life Lessons
Recently I did something pretty stupid actually, and ended up burning my hand. The middle finger of my right hand was particularly severely burnt. It was second degree, which at the hospital they said was quite minor. Quite minor to people they're used to seeing I suspect, but anyway...
This thing's been in a dressing for almost two weeks, not allowed to get wet an all that. The dressing finally came off yesterday, and although the top-level skins's still not back, the second level seems to be growing back ok.
Well, the thing is, in those two weeks, you wouldn't believe how tricky basic things became. Like washing, writing with a pen, typing. This morning when I no-longer had to worry about a dressing getting soaked, coming off, possible infection and need for another new dressing to be applied; when I could just use my hand as normal and wash effortlessly and quickly, it made me think how many little, little things there are, that we just don't even care to notice; that really we should be grateful for, and only realise the significance of when they are taken away from us. Temporarily in this case, thankfully.
