Do You Want To Go Back To School?

I was never a big lover of school. Homework, tests, field trips, fundraisers, class plays, group projects, I just don't have fond memories of it, and I am glad to be able to put it behind me. I'm glad I don't have to do all that stuff anymore. Well, guess what? If you have kids in school, you have to go through all that again. Permission slips, parent-teacher conferences, baking cupcakes for class parties, checking the homework folder, helping kids study for a test, helping kids gather supplies for all the many projects teachers can think of for kids to do. I do firmly believe that if you want your kids to be successful in school, you, as a parent, have to participate and be involved. To really do this right, it is a full-time job just by itself. Imagine trying to fit all this in on top of everything else you have to do. Or, maybe, even if you don't have a demanding career or schedule, you just aren't interested and don't want to be bothered. I just want to put my school experiences behind me; I have no desire to go through all that again as an adult.
It's something to think about if you're on the fence about whether or not to have kids.Or,if you didn't enjoy, and have no desire to relive, school, it's one more reason to say, " I am happily childfree!" Just getting the kids registered for school, buying all the supplies, packing their lunches, going to all the many school functions and events, dealing with problems like when your child is misbehaving or being bullied; it really is a full time job. You have to have a lot of time, and a strong desire to want to do it. Being the type of parent kids need to be successful in school isn't for everyone. Do you want to go through school all over again? If not, I hope I have given you another reason to say, " I am happily childfree! "
