It's Gettin Hot In Here!

Just got back from a talk about climate changes. One of speakers=Nobel prize winning scientist. It's scary when folks who do the research, and run the conferences, and schmooze with the policy makers are freaked. and these scientists are freaked. you can feel it in the room. Because they know, they see what's coming. Close to a billion folks without enuf water by 2050. And everyone in the room seems to be swaying between complete discouragement and the need to take action. Some of these scientists came out of the anti-nuke movement, and talked about 'how do you get people to care, to change, how do you make climate change a tangible reality, and not just an abstraction?' An Evangelical working on climate change issues got dogged by his peeps, because they think scientists are wrong about everything, cause they are wrong about creation and evolution, according to ultra right. Evangelical was like, 'this is totally illogical. It doesn't matter if you believe Darwin or God, the globe is being ruined and we need to act.' He told a joke. The devil is in hell with 3 people he is sending up to earth to make trouble. Asks first one, 'what are you gonna do?' 1st one says, 'tell people there is no God.' Devil says that won't work, too many people belive in God already. 2nd one says, 'I'll tell them there is a hell.' Devil says, that won't work, most people feel like they are already living in hell. 3rd one says, 'I'll tell them not to hurry.' and that's the one the devil sent to earth to make the most trouble. Remember the dance song, 'it's getting hot in here.' We need to hurry up and hurry.

It certainly is human nature to deny future problems. The problems are clear to me..now. We do need to be concerned and vigilant. We all know what's coming and it isn't good.Scientist are talking and many aren't listening. The climate and environment has changed dramatically in 50 yrs. We've seen it up close and it's not going away on it's own. Mankind has destroyed a lot..we better start helping earth become healthy, NOW.
