I Got Wheels. No Big Deal.

Yes. I'm in a wheelchair. I'm "crippled". But you wanna know something completely crazy? I've had a boyfriend. I've had my first kiss. I have plenty of friends who love me for who I am. I swim and I hike and I play basketball and I walk my dog. I laugh, I cry, I smile, I get angry. I'm just like you, despite what you probably think of me.
Honestly, there's only one thing that sets me apart from the rest of society. And it's not the fact that I have wheels, or that I can't do a lot of physical things. No, it's the fact that I can handle screwed up situations a hell of a lot better than you can. I've met death more than once, and I came back at it twice as hard. I've had so many experiences that most people won't have in their lifetime, and I'm a better person because of that.

Wanna know the craziest thing of all though? I'm completely okay with being me just the way I am, wheels included.

Amen to that I feel the same way. It amazes me the looks we get for being in a wheelchair. It also amazes me at the shock people have that we can wash our own clothes and do dishes etc. For some reason they think if your in a wheelchair you can't do anything and they are so wrong.

I been in a wheelchair since I was 16 too I got shot in my back and the bullet hit my spine its nice to see you positive im like that to nothing can stop me I get more girls now than I evet did nice story keep up the good and your very pretty by the way

Your awesome! And my age. I'm glad there's someone else with wheels out there who doesn't care what people think of them.

I am also in a wheel chair due to transverse myelitis. I like to keep a positive attitude. To tell you the truth I only had one experience with the event of becoming a wheelchair user. But at my school, there are people who love me and people who have bullied me too. Although my friends are what make school okay and I can deal with the bullies... they are the ones you are missing out on a happy life not me!!! Thanks for sharing your story! Your right, wheels are awesome!!!

you rock!!!! i am in a wheelchair too, was born with spina bifida xx

Thanks! Sorry to hear that, but be proud of who you are. Those wheels don't definie you, it's your actions that do. I wish you the best of luck in life :)

add me if you like x

You rock.
